Heating With Radiant Floor Heat
If you are looking for a more efficient way to heat your home or office then why not consider Hydronic Heating–more commonly known as radiant floor heating as a method of heating a home, shop, or other building with the heat concentrated in the floor.
It works by embedding special tubing in a concrete foundation or in a thin concrete mixture on top of a wood-framed floor. Heated water (or a food-grade antifreeze mixture) flows through this tubing, warming the thermal mass of the concrete. Conventional forced-air systems, wood stoves, or other heating methods produce uneven heat, with the highest air temperatures near the ceilings. Unlike traditional heating methods Hydronic heating puts the heat in the floor under your feet, gently warming a room or a complete structure.
This results in similar heating levels with superior comfort without wasting energy and money in monthly fuel bills. The warm water circulated through the tubing in a radiant floor may come from solar collectors, water heaters, demand water heaters, wood stoves, or heat pumps.
A Focus On Air Quality
Air quality is important in today’s homes because we spend 90% of our time indoors. Homes are now built with better insulation, tighter window and door seals which can also result in keeping fresh air from entering. Since there is less fresh air coming in, the air you breath can become contaminated with various indoor particles such as dust, pet dander, mold spores and other items that cause coughs, sneezing, or allergies and other discomforts unrelated to heat or cold.
Recent Department of Energy (DOE) research suggests that most duct systems lose 25% to 40% of energy put out by the furnace or air conditioner. It is a fact that most homeowners aren’t getting the efficiency and comfort they are paying for.
Excel Mechanical, Inc. uses the latest in test equipment to test your home before we install any heating system. By performing a whole house & Duct Performance test, we know how the whole system is performing which will tell us exactly what your heating/cooling needs are.
